STEM through Games

Game design provides a unique and immersive platform that allows developers to express rich personal narratives through their work. This project aims to pursue three overarching goals:

  1. Support traditionally underrepresented high school students (women, students of color) in developing computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) skills
  2. Provide students with the ability to express themselves through video game storytelling
  3. Evaluate the efficacy of teaching STEM through peer-tutored game design workshops.

Our team has designed an interdisciplinary curriculum that connects English Language Arts (ELA) and STEM content for a workshop series to teach HS students about storytelling, math, physics, and computing through digital game design.
