Game design provides a unique and immersive platform that allows developers to express rich personal narratives through their work. This project aims to pursue three overarching goals:
- Support traditionally underrepresented high school students (women, students of color) in developing computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) skills
- Provide students with the ability to express themselves through video game storytelling
- Evaluate the efficacy of teaching STEM through peer-tutored game design workshops.
Our team has designed an interdisciplinary curriculum that connects English Language Arts (ELA) and STEM content for a workshop series to teach HS students about storytelling, math, physics, and computing through digital game design.
