Hanging out with my girls
I’m like the proverbial shoemaker without shoes. I spend my time documenting other families’ lives, but rarely do I have the opportunity to photograph my own family. This is one of those rare times when everything came together – weather, free time, hanging out with the family, and having a camera in my hand.

First beautiful day in a while – we decided to checkout melting ice on the river.
Arial photography at Ari’s Bar Mitzvah
How do you do an bird’s view shot of a large crowd of kids during a balloon fight at a Bar Mitzvah party? You climb a 10-foot ladder. Don’t try this at home, kids…

Photo of me on the ladder was taken by Jenny Karlsson of Jenny Karlsson Photography.
An early morning trip the North Side
I decided to go to the North Side at 6 AM to get some night shots of Pittsburgh on black and white film. All these photographs were shot on Kodak 400CN film with a Canon Elan 7E camera and a 50mm f/1.4 lens. Some of the exposures were as long as 15 seconds. All photos are straight out of the camera – I did not edit them at all.

HelpPortrait Pittsburgh

We ran the Help-Portrait Pittsburgh event for the 4th year in a row on December 7, 2013. As always, it has been an amazing experience! In this day and age it is hard to believe that there are people who have never been photographed! Huge thanks to Kevin Lorenzi for doing 99% of the organizational work, Allegro Hearth Bakery and Whole Foods of Pittsburgh for donating food to make the event more pleasant for everyone. As a side note, these are cell phone snapshots of the original printed images:)
